PM meets Secretary-General of the International Ski Federation

Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Gharibashvili met the Secretary-General of the International Ski Federation, Michel Vion. The sides talked about the World Skiing Championship scheduled for 2023, which is to be held in Bakuriani. Georgia is one of the 14 countries where the World Ski Championship was held.

Irakli Gharibashvili thanked Michel Vion for cooperation and noted that the development of ski and winter resorts and the preparation of Georgian athletes for world-class competitions are very important.
It was noted at the meeting that during the winter season of 2021-2022, the European Cup stage was held in Bakuriani in a parallel giant slalom. The guests of the championship mentioned that the event was organized at the level of world standards.

The government made great efforts to organize the events of 2022 at the level of international standards. A new system of calculations was created, ski slopes of modern standards were set up, ropeway, inventory worth more than 1.5 million GEL and specialized snow-compacting equipment worth about 1.4 million GEL were purchased.

For the highest level of the championship planned for 2023, Georgia plans to build artificial lakes, arrange an artificial calculation system and ski slopes and buildings. The total cost of the project is 240 million GEL.
