PM: Govt's main task to ensure country's economic readiness for EU membership
“Amid the country’s EU candidate status, the Georgian government’s main task in the medium term is to ensure the country’s economic readiness for EU membership,” according to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s annual report presented to parliament today.
The document states that “Georgia, as an EU candidate country, has prepared its Economic Reform Programme for the second time, this time for the period 2025-2027, following the methodology developed by the European Commission for EU candidate countries.”
According to the government, the programme was approved by Georgian Government Decree No. 31 of 15 January 2025 and submitted to the European Commission.
