PM: Herczyński and 'accomplices' tried to put bickering politicians in power; I dread to think where they would have led this country

“Herczyński and his accomplices wanted to install people in government who today cannot even agree among themselves. I dread to think what state they would have left our country in; they would have brought it to a far worse condition than they did between 2004 and 2012,” stated the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to Kobakhidze, Pawel Herczyński’s wishes were thwarted because the Georgian people refused to listen to the EU Ambassador.

“I want you to imagine for just one moment what would have happened if Ambassador Herczyński’s hopes had been realised and these people had won the election. If a government formed by these political forces were in power right now, what a plight our country would be in. Thank God, Herczyński’s wish did not come true. The Georgian people did not listen to the EU Ambassador, and Georgia does not have such a government today, even though the effort to install them was immense.

This was not just reflected in pre-election appeals. You may recall that, after the election concluded, not a single ambassador or foreign country within the relevant circle congratulated Georgia on a successfully conducted election; precisely because they wanted these individuals in power.

From their perspective, these individuals, who today cannot even agree among themselves, should have come to power. I do not even want to imagine where they would have led our country. They would have driven the nation into a much worse state than they did during the years 2004–2012. These are the people Herczyński and his accomplices wanted to bring to power. Thank God that such a government did not materialise in Georgia; it would have been an utter disaster. I do not even wish to entertain it as a theoretical possibility,” the Prime Minister stated.
