Phakiso Mochochoko – Investigation into August War is moving forward

Phakiso Mochochoko, Director of Jurisdiction, Complementarity and Cooperation Division of the Office of the Prosecutor at the Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) says that intensive investigation into August 2008 Georgia-Russia War is moving forward and will lead to its logical ending.

Mochochoko said he could not specify when the work would end since time was needed to collect all pieces of evidence. “We are analyzing the already obtained information and meeting witnesses to verify evidences,” he said.

Mochochoko underlined that ICC was making effort to ensure Russia’s involvement in the investigation process. However, he said that no cooperation came from so far Moscow in ICC Investigation.

The International Criminal Court has been investigating the August war crimes since January 27, 2016.
