Patriarchate: Violence, aggression unacceptable. Unhealthy processes lead society to split and generate confrontation

“The Church finds violence and aggression unacceptable. Unhealthy processes and actions lead society to split and create confrontation,” the Patriarchate said on Sunday.

The Patriarchate echoed the attack on the TV Pirveli film crew.

“Unfortunately, the situation in our country remains tense. A midnight attack by unknown persons on TV Pirveli journalist and cameraman raises a well-founded fear that the process will become unmanageable and such violent actions will become more frequent.

We call on the Georgian government and representatives of state structures to immediately investigate and curb such actions. We are clearly facing a serious public confrontation, and therefore decisive measures must be urgently taken to support a peaceful process in the country.

We urge all members of society, regardless of political affiliation and views, not to succumb to provocation, to show maximum restraint and reasonableness,” reads the statement.
