The National Bank of Georgia will issue a commemorative collector coin to mark the 100th anniversary of Georgian Radio.
According to the Bank’s statement, the initiative continues its tradition of honoring major national milestones.
“A century ago, in 1925, Georgia launched its first radio broadcast. This milestone, a major technological achievement at the time, played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s public and cultural life.
Georgian Radio is among the oldest radio stations in Europe. Its ‘Golden Fund’ serves as an audio chronicle of the nation’s history. Notably, Georgian Radio was recently granted the status of intangible cultural heritage. Prior to the advent of television, it was the sole broadcaster in the country.
With the release of this collector coin next year, the National Bank reaffirms its commitment to celebrating events of national importance,” the statement concludes.
