MP Makhashvili on constitutional suit: Parties engaged in anything but politics cannot shape Georgia’s future

“The constitutional lawsuit is entirely based on the findings of the parliamentary temporary investigative commission, and it concerns which parties, and why, deserve to remain part of political life,” stated MP Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee.

According to him, this lawsuit is a clear statement that Georgia’s future cannot be shaped by parties that do everything except engage in genuine political activity.

“Political parties should participate in the political process, making decisions rooted in national interests. Parties engaged in overthrowing the state, opposing national interests, or acting against territorial integrity cannot be regarded as legitimate political entities. Such parties should not exist, and this is the core aim of the lawsuit,” Makhashvili emphasised.
