MP Makhashvili condemns EP’s 'blackmail', emphasises willingness to cooperate despite hostile attitudes

“Regrettably, the European Parliament has chosen to resort to blackmail, infiltrating each resolution they pass with falsehoods,” stated MP Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament.

When asked by a journalist about the upcoming resolution set to be discussed in the Council of Europe and the European Parliament next week, Makhashvili responded:

“This is an annual document, and this marks the third or fourth time this year alone that Rasa Juknevičienė is reviewed. The resolution will ultimately be adopted. Unfortunately, the European Parliament has decided to resort to blackmail, filling every resolution they pass with falsehoods. Consequently, this is of little interest to us. On the other hand, if they have a sincere interest in cooperating in any field, there is no need to communicate through resolutions. There are numerous avenues for cooperation and constructive dialogue, and we stand ready to use these formats. As yet, however, we do not see such an attitude,” Makhashvili stated.
