Mayor Kaladze: Strengthening sovereignty and protecting our national interests remain our most vital tasks

“Today, February 25, marks one of the most challenging dates in our nation’s history, the fall of Tbilisi, the overthrow of the First Republic’s government, and the start of a 70-year Soviet occupation. The loss of independence had profound political, economic, and cultural repercussions for Georgia,” writes Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze on social media.

Kaladze describes occupation as an evil that destroys both the state and its people.

“That is why strengthening our sovereignty and safeguarding our national interests remain our most important priorities today. Eternal memory and glory to the Georgian heroes who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for Georgia’s independence,” he adds.
