Mayor Kaladze: All wrongdoers, whether domestic or foreign, to face appropriate consequences

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared that all wrongdoers, both domestic and foreign, will face appropriate consequences. He made these remarks in response to questions regarding Georgia’s withdrawal from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the ongoing political events within the country.

Kaladze emphasized that the attack on the Georgian Dream was clearly orchestrated.

“Everything is straightforward: these individuals are simply following orders. This is evident in the orchestrated nature of the attack on the Georgian Dream, as well as the interference during the election period. Now, they express their discontent when representatives from other countries comment on the political processes within their own countries, and they are disturbed by foreign involvement in their elections. It is shameful, especially since they themselves initiated a campaign of interference during the elections in Georgia. This injustice is palpable to the Georgian people, and we will not tolerate it. All wrongdoers, whether inside or outside the country, will face appropriate consequences,” he stated.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has approved a resolution concerning Georgia, granting limited credentials to the Georgian delegation until April. The resolution outlines several conditions that the Georgian authorities must satisfy by that deadline, including “the release of political prisoners and the announcement of new elections.”

Tea Tsulukiani, head of the Georgian delegation to PACE, confirmed that while Georgia remains a member of the Council of Europe, the ruling party has decided to cease its participation in the Assembly’s work.
