Lelo’s Mamuka Khazaradze claims Prosecutor’s Office is pursuing his arrest

“The Prosecutor’s Office contacted me and summoned me to appear as a witness. A witness to what? That I did not participate in the circus show? They seek to arrest me, yet I am prepared to appear before the magistrate judge at any time,” wrote Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of the Lelo party, on Facebook.

According to Khazaradze, he intentionally and consciously chose not to participate in the commission meeting.

“I reaffirm that I did not attend the meeting of that unrecognized commission. Even though the court is presided over by Bidzina’s Murusidze, I am willing to testify on any issue of interest to them,” he stated.

The Georgian General Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation into Mamuka Khazaradze under Article 349 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The parliamentary investigative commission submitted Khazaradze’s case to the Prosecutor’s Office on March 25.

In a Facebook post, Khazaradze criticized the “illegitimate parliament” and declined to attend the commission meeting on that date, labelling it a “circus show.”
