Tbilisi City Court imposed 1 million GEL bail on Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze each as a preventive measure in the case of sabotage. Judge Pikria Sikturashvili satisfied the motion of the prosecution, while the defence requested that the defendants be left without a preventive measure.

The bail should be paid within 30 days. Lelo’s Badri Japaridze attended the trial.

The court scheduled the trial in the case of other opposition leaders on the same charges – Mikheil Saakashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Nika Gvaramia, Nikanor Melia, Zurab Japaridze and Elene Khoshtaria – for December 25.

At a briefing held at the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia on November 6, Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvarakidze announced that criminal proceedings were initiated against Mikheil Saakashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Nika Gvaramia, Nikanor Melia, Zurab Japaridze, Elene Khoshtaria, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze.

Criminal proceedings were initiated against 8 opposition politicians on charges of crimes against the state, namely sabotage, assistance to a foreign country in hostile activities, financing activities directed against Georgia’s constitutional order and national security foundations, and incitement to violently change Georgia’s constitutional order or overthrow state authority.
