Lela Chikovani: NATO-Georgia Exercise is directed to strengthen Georgia’s defense capabilities and is not directed against any country
It should be noted that this year’s training is unique in its characteristics. Under the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package from the initial planning to the enforcement phase the NATO exercises are led and hosted by Georgia. This is a NATO-Georgia Joint-Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC), – Deputy Defense Minister Lela Chikovani said at the official opening ceremony of NATO-Georgia Exercise 2019.
According to her, the number of participants in the exercise is unprecedented – 343 representatives from 24 NATO member states and partner countries.
As she noted, the exercise will strengthen Georgia’s defense capabilities, and “is not directed against any third country.”
“The training is another demonstration of more NATO in Georgia and more Georgia in NATO, ” – Lela Chikovani added.
NATO-Georgia Exercise 2019 has been officially opened today. The opening ceremony was held at the Army Hall of Ministry of Defense of Georgia.
