Khazaradze: Questions arise over GD's covert legitimization; Gakharia must decide quickly, stop time-wasting for immunity, funding

“The people gathered at 8 Rustaveli Street are becoming completely incapable of legislative activity, as the abolition of opposition mandates reduces the number of deputies to 89, making it virtually impossible to make legitimate decisions,” said Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of the Strong Georgia coalition, on Friday.

Khazaradze explained that their objective, along with the four pro-Western alliances, was to isolate those who conducted a “Russian special operation” during the elections and prevent them from making choices, ultimately forcing new elections.

“Although Georgian Dream has 89 mandates, there are 101 deputies on paper in parliament today. The issue concerns the coalition called Gakharia – For Georgia, and here a very serious question emerges about the covert legitimization and hidden support of the Georgian Dream,” he asserted.

The opposition figure emphasized the importance of a quick decision by Gakharia-Georgia, calling any delay due to immunity and funding “irrelevant, biased, and unfair.”

“My call is to finish the parliamentary process on time, leave the Georgian-Russian government in 89 mandates so that we can very quickly achieve new elections and release our prisoners,” he added.
