The faction For Georgia has officially demanded the creation of a temporary commission to review the setting of the minimum wage at 1,050 GEL. To this end, they registered the initiative in Parliament today.

According to opposition MP Giorgi Sharashidze, regrettably, Parliament has decided to put the proposal for a minimum wage of 1,050 GEL to a vote, citing that the issue has not been studied sufficiently.

“That is why we have submitted a new initiative. This commission would operate for three months, providing an opportunity to examine the matter transparently and invite representatives from the relevant business sectors, including independent experts and anyone who can contribute additional insight. Georgian Dream will have no reason to refuse the creation of this commission, because they will have already rebutted the argument that, unfortunately, has sacrificed a large part of the Georgian population to poverty and social inequality by rejecting our legislative proposal,” Sharashidze stated.
