Kavelashvili: During Turkiye visit, respect for national interests, importance of peace policy highlighted
“During meetings in Turkiye, we touched upon all topics, with the main theme being political perspectives – the fact that both countries are very interested in a regional peace policy,” declared Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili.
According to him, “Georgia and Turkiye have much in common.”
“Turkiye was one of the initiators, immediately after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, to mediate in the reconciliation process. We have also consistently participated in the Azerbaijan-Armenia issue. We all welcome that this process is approaching its conclusion.
The relations between Turkiye and Armenia themselves are also yielding positive results. Our relations are at one of the highest levels. What do we have in common? Perspectives.
They congratulated me and noted that it is very important to have a government that is chosen by the people. It was loudly emphasised that we have in common respect, national interest, values, and peace policy. Mr. Erdogan is quite a strong leader, a defender of his country and its national interests. This is precisely where we stand in solidarity,” Kavelashvili declared.
