“Construction work will continue during off-hours after the opening of Varketili Metro Station,” Tbilisi Mayor Kaha Kaladze announced while discussing the station’s rehabilitation.

According to Kaladze, the municipality is working to ensure that during the rehabilitation process, the station opens one hour later and closes one hour earlier.

“The metro will open in a few days, but construction work will continue until the end of the year.

We are working to have the metro station close one hour earlier and open one hour later, so the work process can be extended and completed as quickly as possible.

I once again apologize to the population for the discomfort. This type and scale of work cannot be carried out any other way,” the Tbilisi Mayor noted.

Regarding the delay in rehabilitation work, Kaha Kaladze explained: “No expert group was found in Georgia that had worked in this direction. There are many construction companies capable of undertaking such work. The most important factors are the project itself and the expertise involved. This is exactly why this project became complicated and extended,” Kaladze stated.
