Interagency Coordination Council discusses epidemiological situation, vaccination
The current epidemiological situation in Georgia, the new Covid-19 strain, the preparation for the intensive testing and vaccination were discussed at today’s meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council, chaired by Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia.
The press service of the government administration informed the meeting focused on the additional steps to be taken to make the Covid-testing process more effective.
The council members also spoke of a smooth vaccination process and the steps taken by a special commission set up by the Prime Minister on this issue. The state is actively negotiating with the international partners and vaccine manufacturers to receive the first doses of the vaccine as soon as possible.
The need for effective enforcement of government-imposed restrictions and adherence to all recommendations, including social distance and wearing facemasks, was reiterated.
Georgia reported a total of 232,079 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 222,787 recovered and 2,646 people who died.
