Healthcare Committee backs amendments to Law on Public Health

The Parliamentary Health and Social Affairs Committee backed the amendments into the Law on Public Health on Tuesday.

Based on the proposed draft, the Law on Public Health defines the government’s responsibility within the framework of national calendar vaccinations.

According to Tamar Gabunia, Deputy Health Minister, the country has to meet certain conditions to receive the Covid vaccine on time.

Gabunia further clarified that the government needs to ensure free medical service and rehabilitation if side effects or complications. The exception would be cases when the medical personnel or medical institution’s mistake causes the side effects or complications.

“This will help to strengthen the credibility of the timely introduction of a vaccine in Georgia and the timely start of vaccination,” the draft reads.
