“Georgia’s flu season is currently stable, and vaccination efforts are ongoing,” states the Ministry of Health in an official update.

According to the ministry, Georgia is actively preparing for the flu season.

“Currently, the A/H3N2 virus is predominantly circulating across all regions of the country. Other seasonal respiratory viruses, including rhinoviruses, parainfluenza, and respiratory syncytial virus, have also been detected. Most cases are managed at home by family doctors.

The effective four-component seasonal vaccine, produced in France and purchased by the Ministry of Health, is widely used in the country. To date, approximately 150,000 people have been immunised. The vaccine is available free of charge to all interested individuals.

Vaccination is recommended for all population groups, with particular emphasis on high-risk individuals such as pregnant women, the elderly, children from six months, and those with weakened immune systems or chronic illnesses.

In addition to vaccination, preventive measures such as frequent hand washing, proper ventilation of indoor spaces, and avoiding public gatherings when symptomatic are crucial. Avoiding crowded places is also advised.

The Ministry of Health states that, based on the current epidemiological situation, the situation is fully under control, and the healthcare system is prepared to deliver timely and quality services to the population throughout the season,” the ministry said in a statement.
