Gunba claims victory in Abkhazia's so-called runoff elections

Badra Gunba has declared victory in the second round of the so-called presidential elections in occupied Abkhazia, claiming to have secured over 50% of the votes according to preliminary results from his campaign headquarters.

“This result was achieved through the trust of our citizens and our team. Most importantly, it represents our people’s voice. This should be a victory for all Abkhazians and our country’s future,” Gunba stated while addressing supporters.

Gunba, currently serving as the acting leader in occupied Abkhazia, faced opposition candidate Adgur Ardzinba, who has not yet stated the results.

The self-proclaimed election commission reported voter turnout exceeding 70% across 152 polling stations in the occupied territory, with two additional voting locations opened in Russia—one in Moscow and another in Cherkessk.

Over 134,000 voters were reportedly registered for the so-called elections.
