“We are currently testing the idea of moving the capital from Tbilisi to Kutaisi and waiting to see how the public, especially the people of Kutaisi, will react. If we see genuine interest and support for Kutaisi becoming the capital, we will completely change our election strategy, making Kutaisi a key center of the campaign,” said the leader of Girchi, Iago Khvichia.

According to him, in this case, he would likely run for mayor of Kutaisi.

“If there is no significant activity or support, and it becomes clear that the people of Kutaisi do not really want Georgia’s capital to move there, then, as with other parties, the main battleground will remain Tbilisi. At this stage, we are only testing the strategy and observing our colleagues’ actions so we can adjust our plan accordingly,” Khvichia explained.
