Girchi’s Rakviashvili slams opposition for excuses and avoidance of political accountability

“They can find any excuse for the situation, instead of admitting their mistake and taking political responsibility,” declared Sandro Rakviashvili, one of the leaders of the Girchi party.

Rakviashvili explained that the events of October 4 resulted in arrests, the ruination of people’s lives, and a significant blow to the opposition spectrum.

“People can see that they will find any excuse. Even if Paata Burchuladze was deceived or misled, if he shared information with others, it’s evident that not many people responded to his call for a revolution. He called on people to gather at the residence, and it’s clear that something was going to happen there. If you know that the riot police laid down their weapons, why would you head to the president’s residence when he isn’t making decisions for the country? The proper place would be the Government Administration. This is an utterly embarrassing excuse for the situation; instead of admitting their mistake and accepting political responsibility, they claim they inspired hope in the people. So far, we have heard nothing but such strange explanations,” Rakviashvili stated.

Paata Burchuladze’s son, Shukri Burchuladze, appeared on TV Pirveli, revealing that on October 4, Paata Burchuladze was waiting near the palace for the riot police to arrive on their side.
