Infrastructure Minister: New construction phase to launch in Kutaisi
Infrastructure works are actively continuing in Kutaisi, Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze said after inspecting ongoing projects in the city.
“Today, we reviewed the works underway in the area surrounding the Student-Youth Park and the former Parliament building. The projects are in an active phase and are being implemented according to a specific plan,” Sokhadze stated.
He also spoke about future development plans for the city.
“We are preparing new large-scale projects for Kutaisi and will launch several important initiatives this year. At this stage, design work is being carried out intensively, and in the second half of the year, the next phase of new construction in Kutaisi will begin,” the minister said.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the rehabilitation project of the Kutaisi Student-Youth Park includes the construction of pedestrian and bicycle paths, the creation of new green spaces, general area improvements, installation of small architectural elements, and modernization of the lighting system.
The park will also feature children’s and sports zones, picnic areas, an amphitheater, and water features. The renovated infrastructure will be fully adapted for parents with strollers and persons with disabilities.
The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia is implementing the project. The Ministry noted that since the Soviet period, only the pedestrian zone of the Kutaisi Student-Youth Park, which was established in 1957, had previously undergone rehabilitation.
