Georgian President extends condolences to Türkiye over tragic ski resort fire

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has expressed condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish people after a devastating fire at the Kartalkaya ski resort in Türkiye.

“I express my deep sorrow over the tragedy that occurred in Türkiye. On behalf of the Georgian people, I offer my condolences to President Erdogan and the friendly Turkish people and wish the families of the victims strength during these difficult times,” reads President Kavelashvili’s letter of condolence.

The fire erupted today at a hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort, located 270 kilometers from Istanbul. According to initial reports, the tragedy claimed 66 lives and left 51 injured.
