Georgian President attends inauguration of Pope Leo XIV

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has attended the inauguration ceremony of Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City, joining world leaders at St Peter’s Square.
“I once again warmly congratulate His Holiness Leo XIV on his election as Pope; I am confident he will carry out this highly honourable and, at the same time, responsible mission with dignity,” President Kavelashvili said.
“Georgia truly prides itself on and values its historical ties with the Holy See and is ready to continue relations based on peace, mutual respect and shared values,” the Georgian President added.
