Georgian President to meet Pope Leo XIV tomorrow

The President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, has announced he will meet Pope Leo XIV tomorrow.

President Kavelashvili made the announcement following the inauguration ceremony of the new Pope at the Vatican.

“Today I had the opportunity to attend Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration at St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. Afterwards, I was able to congratulate him personally,” said President Kavelashvili.

“Importantly, I have a meeting scheduled with him tomorrow. The relationship between Georgia and the Vatican is very significant. We had a highly productive relationship with the previous Pope, and I hope that with the new Pope we will have the opportunity to further deepen our ties,” the Georgian President added.
