Georgian, Austrian FMs discuss bilateral ties and regional security
Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili met with Austria’s Foreign Minister, Beate Meinl-Reisinger. The sides discussed bilateral relations, cooperation in international formats, and regional security.
“Austria reaffirmed its view of Georgia as an important partner and welcomed the dynamic relations between the two countries. It continues to support Georgia through development programs and financial assistance. The ministers positively assessed trade and economic ties, highlighting the presence of Austrian companies in Georgia and their commitment to further economic cooperation.
Austria also expressed interest in expanding investments in Georgia, particularly in energy, transport, and connectivity. Discussions covered the regional security environment and its implications for Georgia and neighbouring countries.
Austria reiterated its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and underscored the importance of stability for regional development. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to international law and Austria’s ongoing support for Georgia in international forums.
Austria once again expressed support for Georgia’s European integration, while Georgia reiterated its commitment to EU accession and its readiness to fulfil obligations under the Association Agreement.
Both ministers emphasized the importance of continued dialogue. Minister Botchorishvili thanked her Austrian counterpart for the hospitality and invited her to visit Georgia at a convenient time,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry stated.
