FM: Brussels must not support campaigns that hinder Georgia-EU relations
“From Georgia’s perspective, the most important thing is for Brussels to stop and not facilitate the spread and financing of disinformation campaigns that significantly hinder Georgia-EU relations,” the Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili stated
Bochorishvili was asked about the statement by Kaja Kallas that diplomats would discuss combating disinformation in Europe at the EU Foreign Ministerial.
She emphasized that fighting disinformation is a real challenge.
“We have experienced multiple campaigns targeting Georgia’s interests, built entirely on lies and disinformation narratives. These campaigns can seriously harm both the country and international relations. Therefore, this issue is very important. However, if you recognize the magnitude of the disinformation problem but simultaneously allow or finance these campaigns, the fight against them will be less sincere unless concrete steps are taken,” Botchorishvili said.
