FM Botchorishvili holds discussions with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights
During the high-level segment of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, Georgia’s Foreign Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, engaged in a meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the conversation centred on the security situation in Georgia’s occupied territories and emphasised the importance of a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. The Foreign Minister highlighted the need to keep the situation in these territories prominently on the UN’s agenda. Maka Botchorishvili also emphasised the imperative of granting access to the occupied regions for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and other international monitoring bodies.
Minister Botchorishvili reaffirmed Georgia’s intention to submit a resolution to the UN Human Rights Council titled “Cooperation with Georgia”.
The discussion also encompassed current developments within Georgia and the regional security environment. Both parties expressed their commitment to continuing collaboration on the vital issue of human rights protection.
