Georgia worked hard for activation of visa-free regime, PM says

Over half a million Georgian citizens have paid more than a million and a half visits to the EU countries within 5 years since the introduction of visa-free regime, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili said during the governmental sitting.

PM congratulated the population on the 5th anniversary of the visa-free regime.

“Today is the 5th anniversary of the introduction of visa-free regime with the European Union, so I congratulate everyone on this important date. We, the whole government, have worked very hard for this. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to achieving this result.

I would like to remind the population that we started this process in 2013 when we were given the Visa-Free Action Plan. The Government worked hard and we completed this process in December 2015. The EU considered our efforts satisfactory and the visa regime was lifted in about a year and our citizens now travel to EU countries without a visa.

I would like to remind the citizens that more than half a million citizens of Georgia have made more than a million and a half visits to EU countries during these 5 years. This is a tangible result that we have achieved after the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union,” Irakli Gharibashvili said.
