GD's Mdinaradze: Mandates of Gakharia's Party MPs to be revoked, next 12 in list may enter parliament

Parliamentary Majority Leader Mamuka Mdinaradze has announced that the mandates of the MPs from Gakharia For Georgia party will be revoked. He made the statement during an interview with Rustavi 2.

When asked about the parliamentary majority’s plans, amid expectations that members of Gakharia’s party might still take up their mandates despite their previous claims to the contrary, Mdinaradze stated he has a clear response.

Mdinaradze clarified that under parliamentary regulations, the mandates of the first 12 individuals on the party list who entered Parliament will be terminated. However, since the party has not officially closed its list, the next 12 individuals on the list remain eligible to take up the seats if they choose.

“To put it straight, we will revoke those mandates—yes, that’s what we’re doing. The law allows it under the regulations. But one thing—the list hasn’t been closed, so while the first 12 individuals will not be allowed to enter since we are terminating their powers, the next 12 may enter if they choose to do so,” Mdinaradze stated.
