Former PM echoes June 20 events: No unlawful order was issued

“No unlawful order was issued on June 20. Everything else that happened on June 20 within the orders or the relevant decrees falls under my responsibilities”, Giorgi Gakharia, chairman of the political union For Georgia, said at a press conference on Monday.

The former PM said that the opposition leaders who stood in front of the parliament on June 20 never answered the existing questions. “None of the oppositionists who called on the people to storm the parliament has made any explanations,” he added.

As Gakharia noted, people who received injures on June 20 were victims of the actions of irresponsible oppositionists.

“These people are victims of the irresponsible actions of irresponsible politicians, just as in some cases misconduct or abuse of power from individual police officers took place. There was no unlawful order on June 20. Everything else that happened on June 20 within the orders or the relevant decrees falls under my responsibilities,” Gakharia said.
