Forecasters warn of thunderstorms, brief rain on August 1–2 evenings

Short-term rain and thunderstorms are expected across Georgia during the evening and nighttime hours of August 1 and 2, amid ongoing high temperatures, according to the National Environment Agency.

Heavy rainfall is likely in some areas of eastern Georgia and the northern mountainous regions of western Georgia. Hail and strong winds during thunderstorms are also possible.

The agency warns that anticipated rainfall may trigger flash floods on small rivers and activate landslide and mudflow processes in hilly and mountainous zones. The risk level is assessed as moderate.
