Estonian FM: Foreign Agents Registration Act derails Georgia from EU integration path

“The Foreign Agents Registration Act violates core democratic principles and derails Georgia from its path toward the EU,” wrote Margus Tsahkna, Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs on the X Platform.

According to the Estonian FM, marks another grim step in Georgian Dream’s crackdown on democracy in Georgia.

“The Foreign Agents Registration Act coming into force today marks another grim step in Georgian Dream’s crackdown on democracy in Georgia.

The law violates core democratic principles, silences critics, civil society, media & clearly derails Georgia from its path toward the EU,” Margus Tsahkna stated.

“Georgia’s Foreign Agents Registration Act is a serious setback for the country’s democracy,” reads the joint statement of High Representative/Vice-President of the European Commission Kaia Kallas and the Commissioner for Enlargement Negotiations Marta Cos.
