Speaker: They pressed us for escalation with Russia without guarantees, now they seek shield for their army
“Estonia’s largest contingent in the NATO mission in Afghanistan was 150, while ours consisted of 1,560 soldiers. These people were pushing us for escalation with Russia, without offering us any guarantees at all,” wrote Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on social media.
Papuashvili responded to Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna’s statement that “Estonia will send troops to Ukraine if security guarantees include peacekeeping forces.”
“These people demanded that we escalate tensions with Russia without providing any guarantees whatsoever, and now they are seeking security assurances for their own forces, which are also part of NATO. Estonia’s largest contingent in the NATO mission in Afghanistan was 150 soldiers; ours numbered 1,560,” writes Shalva Papuashvili.
