Economy Minister: Georgia leads in region, surpasses many EU nations in Corruption Perceptions Index

“The fight against corruption has always been a priority for our government, remains relevant today, and will continue to be a focus in the future,” Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili told the media while discussing the 2024 Corruption Perception Index.

He emphasized that Georgia maintains a leading position in the region, surpassing many EU countries, including candidate states.

“It is crucial to consider the environment we have in Georgia across various sectors, how effective our governance is, and one of the key factors—perhaps the most important indicator—of effective management is the perception of corruption. Georgia will continue to lead the region and improve its position,” noted the First Vice Prime Minister.

In the 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index, Georgia leads the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region, surpassing 11 EU and NATO member states: Greece, Slovakia, Croatia, Malta, Montenegro, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Hungary, North Macedonia, and Turkey.
