Economy Minister: Georgia implements measures to simplify transit procedures

At the meeting of transport ministers of the European Union, Central Asia, the South Caucasus and the Black Sea region, held in Tashkent, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, outlined key priorities for the development of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

According to the Minister, establishing a unified digital services ecosystem across the corridor is essential for reducing delays and increasing predictability. She also emphasized the need for coordinated investments in critical infrastructure to support the development of every segment of the route.

Kvrivishvili highlighted the importance of strengthening inter-agency coordination, ensuring full data transparency, and synchronizing operational planning so that partner countries can better forecast demand, manage capacity and jointly address disruptions.

“These steps together will enable us to transform the Trans-Caspian transport route into an integrated, efficient and sustainable corridor,” she said.

The Minister noted that Georgia is prioritising harmonisation, interoperability and integrated data systems to promote sustainable, green transport and enhance coordination mechanisms along the corridor. Digitalisation remains central to Georgia’s connectivity strategy and aligns with EU digital transport initiatives.

“Georgia continues to implement measures to simplify and accelerate transit procedures, including electronic data exchange, automation of customs processes and deeper integration with regional and European digital systems,” Kvrivishvili added.
