Economy Minister: Direct Georgia–Serbia flights boost business cooperation

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili participated in the second session of the Georgia–Serbia Joint Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, held in the Serbian capital, Belgrade. The session was opened by Mariam Kvrivishvili and Serbian Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarević, who served as co-chairs of the commission.

According to the Minister, cooperation between Georgia and Serbia has developed significantly in recent years, a trend reflected in positive bilateral economic indicators.

“Georgia and Serbia maintain close cooperation in the transport sector, particularly in civil aviation, which plays an important role in strengthening tourism and economic ties. The launch of direct flights between our countries has been a significant achievement. Air Serbia currently operates flights on the Belgrade–Tbilisi–Belgrade route three times a week,” Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.

The Minister emphasised that since the launch of direct flights, the number of visitors from Serbia to Georgia has increased significantly in the third quarter of 2025. In addition, direct flights contributed to an increase of more than 20 percent in the number of Serbian tourists visiting Georgia in the first quarter of this year.

“Serbia is an attractive and growing tourism market for Georgia, and it is important to continue cooperation in this area to further strengthen bilateral ties. The intergovernmental tourism agreement and our joint initiatives already provide a solid foundation for promoting and deepening cooperation,” the Minister said.
