Construction of Anaklia Deep Sea Port infrastructure progressing on schedule, Port Director says

The design and construction of water infrastructure for the Anaklia Deep Sea Port is proceeding according to schedule, according to Zurab Sichinava, Director General of the Anaklia Sea Port LLC. He stated that mobilization works, project studies, and detailed design activities are currently in their final phase.

As reported by Georgia’s Ministry of Economy, the works are being carried out by the Belgian maritime engineering giant ‘Jan De Nul N.V.’, which won the international tender as the state’s official contractor.

“The contractor has already prepared the design for the first 650 meters of the breakwater. By August 10, the detailed design for the remaining section will also be finalized and submitted for approval,” Sichinava noted.

He added that the second phase of the project spans nearly two years, with completion expected by May 2027. “By then, the constructed breakwater – approximately 1,400 meters in length – and the deepened seabed must be fully operational,” he said.
