CEC: E-voting to take place at 2,284 polling stations, while traditional voting at 767 stations
“Electronic voting will be conducted at 2,284 polling stations, while traditional voting will take place at 767 stations in local self-government elections,” announced Central Election Commission (CEC) spokesperson Natia Ioseliani at a Tuesday briefing.
“Municipal elections will be held on October 4, 2025. The Commission has approved the election schedule for the October 4 elections and determined various other important issues related to the elections,” Ioseliani noted.
According to her, on October 4, Georgian citizens will elect 2,058 members of 64 councils through both proportional and majoritarian systems, as well as 64 mayors.
“Municipal elections, except in cases provided by law, will be conducted using electronic means – almost 90% of voters will record their choice using verification and vote counting devices. A total of 3,051 polling stations will open across the country, of which electronic voting will be conducted at 2,284 stations, while traditional voting will take place at 767 stations.
Starting today, pre-election campaign (agitation) rules and norms related to the prohibition of using budget funds, official or service positions have come into effect. We call on all interested parties involved in the elections to actively participate, observe, and objectively and fairly assess the election process,” Ioseliani declared.
