CEC urges voters to verify data ahead of municipal elections

The Central Election Commission (CEC) is calling on voters to check their information in the Unified Voter List ahead of the October 4 municipal elections.

At a briefing, CEC spokesperson Natia Ioseliani stressed the importance of timely verification to ensure citizens can exercise their right to vote smoothly.

“Prior awareness is crucial. Voters should check their data in advance and confirm the location of their polling station. Requests for changes can be submitted until September 16,” Ioseliani said.

According to the CEC, 3,051 polling stations will operate across the country, of which 2,284 will be electronic and 767 traditional. On election day, Georgian citizens will elect 2,058 members of 64 municipal councils through both proportional and majoritarian systems, as well as 64 mayors.

To verify data, voters can use several services: the website voters.cec.gov.ge; quick payment machines and the mobile app Voters Georgia – Cesko.

By entering a personal number and surname in the app, voters can review their own and family members’ details and locate their polling station on a map. The service is also available in Azerbaijani and Armenian for regions with ethnic minority populations.

“The internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the occupied territories are included in the voter list according to their actual place of residence. Citizens whose registration has expired, been invalidated, or lacks an address are included based on their last registered or current temporary residence. Such individuals must apply to the State Services Development Agency (or the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in the case of IDPs) to make necessary changes,” Ioseliani said.

The CEC urged voters in these categories to contact the agency no later than September 13 to verify their information.

“Timely verification not only ensures voting rights but also strengthens the transparency of the election process,” Ioseliani noted, calling on the public to actively check their records and report inaccuracies.
