Bidzina Ivanishvili: Victory is impressive, we are talented nation, Georgia is regaining its worthy place
“The victory is truly impressive. Georgian society has succeeded, and we have finally recovered. This is what our history and genetics deserve. We are a talented nation. At some point, in certain situations, we were lost, but now we will gather strength and take a worthy place in the world,” stated Bidzina Ivanishvili, Honorary Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party.
He expressed gratitude to voters for their trust and underlined the importance of unity in defending Georgia’s sovereignty.
“I want to emphasize one thing: the modern method of conquest is agents. Through this mechanism, even countries far larger and more developed than ours have lost their sovereignty. Many nations are heading toward disaster, dragging their people and societies with them. This is the weapon of modern conquest. It is through this method that the strongest and most civilized countries have been brought to their knees—their economies and societies destroyed, torn apart by conflicts, and forced into a distorted way of life.
Yet we, the Georgian nation, have already demonstrated our strength and talent. Georgia is the only state that has managed to resist and drive this agents away. Do you remember 2012? We defeated one of the greatest and most malignant forces supporting them. We all wondered what became of the National Movement. The truth is, the National Movement itself is not the real threat—there is a much greater, more destructive power behind it. Those who follow politics closely understand what forces are at play and what is happening in the world today.
We are a gifted nation, and we have proven it. We are the only state that has managed to free itself from being ruled externally by such a great power. Through our unity, we have gradually restored our sovereignty. I assure you, among all those who still love their homeland, Georgia may be the most envied. We stand firm and hold the line.
But the path forward lies within society itself. They are trying to make us ignorant, to drive us to confusion, to turn us into a powerless mass—and they are still lurking behind the scenes. Today, despite their catastrophic loss in the elections, they are once again attempting to act from the streets. Yet here too, the wisdom of the Georgian people prevails. After all, how can a party with 80 percent support allow ten thousand people to carry out a coup?” Ivanishvili said.
