Relation with international organizations is our sovereign right and choice – Zurab Abashidze, Special Representative of Georgian Prime Minister in Russian Relations said in response to the statement made by Gregory Karasin, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister.
Karasin said in his statement that Georgia’s integration into NATO might pose a threat to Georgian-Russian relations.
Abashidze told Georgian First Channel that the attitude that Russia was against Georgia’s NATO membership was not unexpected. “Russia uses all the platforms to fix its negative stance about NATO and Georgia’s cooperation with the alliance,” Abashidze said.
The meeting between Zurab Abashidze and Gregory Karasin was held on June 13 in Prague.
