Tokyo Olympics postponed to 2021 due to coronavirus pandemic

The Tokyo Olympics are to be postponed until 2021 after talks between Japan’s prime minister, Shinzo Abe, and the International Olympic Committee president, Thomas Bach.

The National Olympic Committee of Georgia has officially confirmed that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be postponed for a year:

According to the agreement of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Government of Japan and the Organizing Committee of Tokyo-2020, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, a decision has been made to postpone the Summer 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Olympic Games will be held in 2021, no later than summer. A specific date will be announced later.
