So-called State Security Committee of occupied Tskhinvali: Vazha Gaprindashvili was actively involved in the August 2008 events

The so-called State Security Committee of the occupied Tskhinvali said that the detained Vazha Gaprindashvili was actively involved in the August 2008 events as a military doctor.

According to the occupation regime, Vazha Gaprindashvili was arrested near Orchosani village, Akhalgori district.

“According to the available information, he is Captain of the Guard of the Georgian Armed Forces Medical Service who, as a military physician, was actively involved in the August 2008 events,” –  the statement of the so called State Security Committee’s Press Service reads.

According to the occupation regime, on November 9 Vazha Gaprindashvili arrived in Sakorintlo village and then he moved to occupied South Ossetia.

The so-called State Security Committee of the occupied Tskhinvali notes that the frequent cases of “illegal crossing” of the border near Tsnili Village are related to the setting of a police post by the Georgian authorities.

Tbilisi-based doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili, who was illegally detained by Russian occupation forces near the occupation line with Akhalgori Municipality, was imposed to two-month pretrial detention on November 15.

Gaprindashvili was reportedly charged with “illegally crossing the border” under article 322 of the criminal code of Russia. Tbilisi activated a hotline of the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia.
