Remains of 5 people repatriated from occupied Abkhazia

Remains of five people, among them 2 soldiers and 3 civilians were identified and repatriated from occupied Abkhazia onto the territory controlled by the Georgian central government, said Tea Akhvlediani, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality.

The Interagency Commission is implementing identification and repatriation of persons missing since the 1990s Georgia-Abkhazia and 2008 Russia-Georgia military hostilities together with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as a neutral facilitator.

The Interagency Commission was established on October 24, 2019. A total of 206 bodies were identified and delivered to the families through joint efforts.
