Georgian President kicks off France visit

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili is visiting France to attend events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the recognition of the Democratic Republic of Georgia by France.

According to the President’s press service, today, a solemn ceremony will be held in honor of  Dimitri Amilakhvari, French military officer of Georgian descent and Lieutenant Colonel of the French Foreign Legion, at House of the disabled in Paris.

The President will address the guests, representatives of the Georgian Diaspora, and the descendants of Dimitri Amilakhvari.

The busts of Dimitri Amilakhvari, sculpted by Georgian sculptor Guram Nikoladze, will be handed over to the French Foreign Legion Museum and the Museum of Saint-Cyr Military Academy, the press statement read.

The President will partake in the Eternal Flame ceremony at the Triumphal Arch in honor of the memory of the fallen soldiers for France.
