Georgia and other EU-associated partners should have admission to Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili stated on Thursday. 

“We must be a part of this plan. Georgia is ready to join this initiative and unite forces with the European region,” the President said during the WHO/Europe-organized online forum. 

Salome Zourabichvili urged world leaders to stand together.

The President invited WHO/Europe’s Cancer Ambassador, Aron Anderson, to Georgia to share his experience. 

WHO Regional Director for Europe, Hans Kluge, thanked the Georgian President for her “commitment to continuity of cancer care while fighting COVID-19.” 

“Realizing our vision of a region where cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease requires collaboration from grassroots to the highest levels of government,” Kluge tweeted.

The European Commission presented Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan on February 3. With new technologies, research, and innovation as the starting point, the Cancer Plan sets out a new EU approach to cancer prevention, treatment, and care.
