UNM Chair: No time to waste on illusory and ceremonial formats

“At a time when Ivanishvili’s regime is abolishing the state and handing us over to Russia, we cannot afford to waste time on illusory and ceremonial formats,” Tina Bokuchava, the United National Movement Chair, wrote on the social media.

She emphasized that while the UNM does not avoid opposition cooperation, past meetings—particularly those initiated by Salome Zourabichvili—have yielded minimal results in unifying positions on key issues.

“There is no consensus in the opposition on fundamental matters like the 2008 war commission, party bans, and local elections. Even Zourabichvili, who initially opposed participation in local elections, has shifted her stance under Gakharia’s influence,” Bokuchava noted.

She stated that her party will engage in discussions selectively, based on necessity.

“If the agenda includes rejecting local elections before political prisoners are released and parliamentary elections are scheduled, we will participate. But at a time when Ivanishvili’s regime is abolishing the state and handing us over to Russia, we cannot afford to waste time on illusory and ceremonial formats.”
